  • Pizza delivery is an excellent example of those who only want temporary promotion and can safely remove the label once the job is done.

Six Things Your Product Packaging Must Do For You

After producing a quality product, the most important thing for your company is often finding the perfect packaging for your product.  From concept to completion, deciding on the perfect packaging for your product can be challenging without the proper advice and direction.  Below are six main objectives for your product packaging.  Your packaging must fulfill many different functions for your product.

  • Contain: Your product packaging must properly and safely contain your product. This may sound simple but remember that packaging will be different based on the shape, size, and consistency of the product.  How your product is contained will be different if your product is a small amount of liquid, a large amount of metal, an irregular size or shape, or an item made up of many different pieces that require their own packaging to keep them safe and stable.

  • Protect: Your product packaging must also properly protect your product during all phases of product handling. From shipping, processing, store stock and shelf, and ultimately into the consumers hands the packaging must protect the product from everything from wear and tear during shipping to exposure to the elements.  From the time it leaves your facility until it enters the home of your consumer, your product packaging must safely and securely endure every and all potentially damaging handling and shipping scenarios it encounters.

  • Preserve: If your product can spoil, age, or deteriorate in anyway than your package must preserve the integrity of the product. From proper ventilation to packing materials designed to protect and preserve, it is vital to make the package as safe, product friendly, and sustainable as possible.

  • Transport: No matter what your product is or where it is made it must somehow get from you to the consumer. Your packaging must allow for easy, safe, and effective transportation of the product from production to consumer via any number of transportation modes.  Whether it is just across town, across the country, or across an ocean the product and the packaging that is protecting it must meet the challenges of the journey ahead.

  • Inform: Effective packaging and labeling will quickly inform consumers about the product. What the product is, what is included with the purchase of the product, what is needed, the products costs, ingredients, hazards, warranties, and any other important information, the consumer should be able to find the vital information they feel they need in a quick and convenient way.

  • Sell: One of the key duties of packaging is to grab the attention of the consumers and convince them that your product is the best. Studies have indicated that if your packaging and labeling is more aesthetically pleasing to the consumer than your competitions packaging, the consumer is more likely to purchase yours.

  • On the other hand the reverse is also true; if your competitors packaging is far more enticing to the consumers than yours, even if you have a superior product, the consumer is likely to purchase your competitors product due to the superior packaging. Your packaging and labeling must sell your product for you and motivate the potential consumers to make the effort and buy your product and not the one sitting next to it.  When you are not around to tell people how wonderful your product is it’s up to your packaging to get the job done.

Packaging your product effectively is one of the most important things you can do.  Contact a professional package and labeling and work closely with them to ensure the perfect package that will work to contain, protect, preserve, transport, inform, and sell our product for you!

The Differences Between Pressure Sensitive Labels and Roll Fed Labels

Custom labeling comes in various forms these days, and for any company seeking to find the right label for the branding of its product, quite a lot is taken into consideration. From the cost, type, color, durability, safety measure, etc.  One of the commonly used types of a label are pressure sensitive label and roll-fed labels.

Custom Pressure Sensitive Labels

Pressure sensitive labels are the most asked for labels because they work for an extensive variety of uses and are not difficult to apply.  Presure sensitive labels are often referred to as seld-adhesive or adhesive-backed labels.  They are light weight and can stick on to most surfaces and holders.  They are used on a number of different brands and products since they can be imprinted on paper, foil, movie packs and more.

These cutting edge, smooth, and polished stick-on labels can be manufactured in rolls and require direct pressure to apply. Since they need no warmth, dissolvable or water to hold fast to bundles or wraps, they’re one of the least demanding labels to work with in a nutshell.

There are many elements to check between while picking the right material and adhesive blend for a pressure sensitive label. They include more than 50 sorts of a white plastic label material with each having different substrates and glues.

Roll-Fed Labels

They are usually imprinted on unsupported paper or film, with no pre-connected label before it just a plain surface.  Roll-fed labels can be in roll forms, and they apply to various surfaces to be used using hot-dissolved compounds. They cover the full surface volume of the item, which leaves a significant amount of space for the object data in branding

Markets Utilizing  Pressure Sensitive Labels

Nourishment and Beverage Industries – From juice to sauces, they all have printed pressure sensaitive labels on their products that are sustainable and refreshing for start ups and leaders in the industry

Household Chemicals – Pressure sensitive labels can face extreme conditions like rough handling by kids, and they still won’t peel off. Every good one is quite durable even when in contact with chemicals.

Health Sector – The products assemblage and procedures are stationed to agree to FDA, directions and other quality principles so that the labels are neat and legitimately hold fast to pharmaceutical industries and other industries to avoid children having health issues after tampering with it.

Why Shrink Sleeve Labeling is Gaining Popularity

The demand for shrink sleeve labels have seen a significant growth in the last decade and its use is increasing in the global market of labels every day.

The rise in demand for this label is mainly attributed to its benefits in terms of brand identity, marketing and visual appeal to the customers. There is an improvement in the definition and quality of these labels on a regular basis. New developments are also taking place in the manufacturing processes and forms of shrink sleeve labeling.

The other factors affecting the demand for shrink sleeve labels are retail trends, economic influences and increasing demand from the consumers for the convenience products. Several studies on market research have shown that use of customized shrink sleeve labels can increase the sales by around 20% as compared to the age-old ‘pressure sensitive’ labels.

Shrink sleeve labels have a smooth finish, brilliant graphics and are considered as the most durable labeling products. Since these labels are printed on the polyester or plastic material, so they are most suitable for products that are exposed to friction or moisture.

There are several advantages of shrink sleeve labeling. Let us discuss them in details.

  • They are available in full color with a design coverage of 360 degrees.
  • They can be fitted onto most containers and can be contoured to other special shapes.
  • They are abrasion and moisture resistant.
  • No adhesive is required; hence the containers remain usable.

Using shrink sleeve labeling maximizes the marketing space on the products, thus providing more ways to impress the customers. Apart from providing a greater coverage than the regular labels, shrink sleeves are also a better option for those products that confront moisture heavy or humid environments. Such products include refrigerators and showers. The designs on the products do not get damaged in spite of rough handling or friction. This is because the printing of the graphics is done on the inside portion of the sleeve.

Generally, for full body labeling, the shrink sleeves fit into most of the containers. However, shrinking sleeve can be difficult on those shapes that get narrower downwards. This is because the sleeves will not be able to have a grip on the bottom of those containers. The other consideration that needs to be taken into consideration is the heat inside the steam tunnels. This means the shrink sleeve labels have to be made in such a way that they can withstand a certain degree of temperature, otherwise, the containers can get damaged.

We can also use shrink sleeve labels as tamper evident seals. This is very simple. We just need to add a perforation (horizontal of course) near the container’s cap. Thus, there is no need to purchase and apply 2 label products. Instead, our limited resources and time can be utilized in doing something productive.

Similarly, you must have heard of combination packaging. They use these labels for packaging and promoting multiple containers as a single unit. With ‘form-fitting’ shrink sleeve labels, combo-packs can be packaged in the easiest way. Later, these combo packs can be easily converted back into separate units be removing the external sleeve.

All You Need To Know About Shrink Sleeves

What are shrink sleeves?

Though the name may suggest otherwise, shrink sleeves are actually a form of labels that are fast becoming popular. Indeed, it is one segment that’s growing fast in the label industry. More and more brands want to ensure that their packaging is aesthetically appealing to the customers. In a highly competitive world, it is important for them to make a mark and be distinctive. And they adapt shrink sleeve labels to achieve this end.

The industries that are adapting shrink sleeves are food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, household products etc.

It is the age of cheap duplicates. There are many companies that copy a more popular and established brand and use similar labels in order to sell their products. This is where shrink sleeves come in and offer a big advantage for brands. The design choices are multiple and flexible, allowing brands to stand out and be recognized.

Advantages

Shrink sleeves are more durable, allow having full body designs on the container, are water and abrasion resistant as well. The most important part is that the labels can be removed and the containers can be reused. This makes for an ecofriendly option and saving in cost. Though shrink sleeves are slightly more costly initially, in the long run, this works out better.

Since you can have full body designs, you have scope for more color and graphics choices that are impactful and capture attention. These can be used on a wide variety of container materials like plastics, glass and metal. They are seamless and fit into any shape of containers, giving it a different look accentuating the shape of the container.

Another important aspect is to have the barcodes on the product. Shrink sleeves allow you to have this, but with a rider. Scanning of bar codes is sensitive and hence bar codes should be strategically placed on the container. It should be put vertically in a place where the bar code can be scanned as is without any curves of the container interfering with the scanning.

Shrink sleeves are durable to store and transport and are mostly damage proof. However, they should be kept in a cool environment of temperatures of 30 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit as otherwise higher temperatures may cause it to shrink prematurely rendering it useless.

Materials used

Shrink sleeves are mostly manufactured using two materials, namely Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol-modified (PETG) and Polyvinyl chloride (PVC). PVC is most cost effective of the choices as it’s per unit cost is less and is better to use in few cases than PETG. PETG however, has the highest shrink percentage and is also recyclable, which is a big plus making it the most popular of the choices. It is also readily available.

It is important to get the sleeve size, slit width, lay flat size, cut length, print width and height correct. It is best to share sample containers with the shrink sleeves manufacturer and they also offer prototypes.

The shrink sleeve industry is growing at a fast paced 20% and is here to stay. With so many advantages, this is something that brands cannot choose to ignore.
